Pint of beer on a bar

The Cratfield Poacher

Family-run free house in rural location

Bar menu
Open all year

A pub for the past 350 years, this handsome longhouse in deepest rural Suffolk is off the beaten track but well worth the detour. Boasting some impressive exterior plasterwork pargeting, it is just as charming inside, with low beams and tiled floors. There’s always six draught beers available, often from the Adnams and Oakham breweries, plus local Aspall cider. Home-cooked food, such as smoked mackerel salad and shepherd’s pie, with daily-changing specials complete the pleasing picture at this proper village local, which is the hub of the community.
