Old inn where the menu captures top Suffolk produce

Open all year
There’s plenty of character here, with 600 years of history, oak-beamed ceilings, hidden alcoves, worn flagstone floors and open fires. Close to the Southwold ferry, the Suffolk Coastal Path and the marshes, the pub has a family-friendly garden overlooking a creek and the beach; here too is the Barn Café, offering everything for a picnic. Firm favourites on the menu are deep-fried breaded whitebait; Suffolk smokies; steak, ale and mushroom shortcrust pastry pie; and apple and cinnamon pannacotta crumble. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
