Previously a farmhouse and dairy, the Royal Oak is a stunningly attractive thatched inn in one of Exmoor’s prettiest villages, huddled beneath the rising moors beside the River Exe. Inside it’s all big fires, comfy chairs and restful decor, perfect for enjoying the twin treats of good honest Exmoor beers and rich local produce from the seasonal bar and restaurant menus, including slow-braised lamb shank with pan-fried gnocchi and red wine jus.
