A good reputation for quality pub food and ales

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year
Dog friendly

Surrounded by splendid Somerset countryside, the pub dates back to the mid-1700s and has its share of ghostly occupants. The inn prides itself on its friendly, community atmosphere and the quality of its wines and West Country beers. Wholesome home-made food is served, prepared from seasonally changing, local produce, with a good choice of snacks and pub classics for the early afternoon and evening; meals shown on the dinner menu could be smoked haddock Scotch egg; or crispy haggis bon bons, followed by monkfish, chorizo and white bean stew; and wild mushroom risotto.
