Just three miles from Taunton, on the edge of the Blackdown Hills, this friendly family pub and restaurant uses locally sourced produce including the pub’s very own livestock. Chef Scott Simpson’s menus specialise in local game and sustainable line-caught fish from Lyme Bay. Kick off with cider-cured salmon, apple gel, apple crisps and apple blossom before moving on to chicken, leek and ham pie with chargrilled baby vegetables, mashed potato and chicken jus; or gnocchi, truffled butternut squash purée and beetroot granola. Leave room for apple crumble and Calvados.
