Cheerful staff provide a warm welcome to this friendly 300-year-old village inn, which boasts large inglenook fireplaces, flagstone floors, and exposed beams. The place is very atmospheric at night by candlelight, and the blackboard menus feature local produce, including game casserole, curries and bubble-and-squeak with sausage, bacon, eggs and mushrooms. The à la carte menu always has two or three fresh fish dishes, steaks and home-made desserts. In season you can expect local game, as well as local lamb, chicken and pork. On Sunday, roast lunch is available.
