Rich colour-washed walls, heavy beams and simple wooden furniture characterise this beautifully appointed, thatched free house that has six, AA-rated en suite bedrooms. The bar offers a great selection of real ales, and you can dine there, in the restaurant or in the garden. The daily menus run from pub favourites such as sausage and mash and honey roasted ham, egg and hand-cut chips through to roasted pork belly, cavolo nero, pomme purée and honey and cider jus; or duck breast, potato and pancetta terrine, heritage carrots and broccoli. All bread is baked on the premises and local suppliers are used as much as possible – they have a 24-hour ‘port to plate’ policy for the fish that’s supplied from Brixham.
