Just two minutes’ walk from the nearby Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal and surrounded by the Brecon Beacons, this early 18th-century free house is a popular meeting place for car club members. Wye Valley Butty Bach is a bar staple, while on the menu steak and Stogs stew with dumplings features real ale Betty Stogs, a Cornish folklore character. Other possibilities include sautéed lamb's liver with mash, onion rings, vegetables and red wine gravy; steak and kidney pie or pudding; and baked salmon fillet in watercress sauce. Toasted sandwiches, fresh crab and prawn tian, and salads are on the bar menu.
