This tastefully modernised, 16th-century coaching inn stands on the River Nevern in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Owners since 2000 are John Denley, a veteran of 20 years in restaurants in North Africa and the Middle East, and his wife Gwawr, born two miles away on the slopes of Carningli Mountain. There is an emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce for the menu, which lists pork liver pâté with home-made chutney; paprika chicken breast with tagliatelle; and grilled fillet of fresh salmon with lemon butter. Felinfoel, Brains and local guests are on tap.
