A beautiful thatched, mellow stone pub in a hilly village of venerable, reed-roofed cottages at the edge of The Cotswolds. With roses round the door and a cosy courtyard for long summer evenings, it's the idyllic rural inn. With a brace and more of real ales, including one from local brewers Whale, proprietors and classically trained chefs Damian and Debbie Bradley skilfully produce a regularly changing menu of contemporary dishes. Start perhaps with seared pigeon breast, black pudding and apple compôte; or go straight to a main dish like grilled aged sirloin steak, thin chips, sauté mushrooms and sweet balsamic baby onions; or south coast sea bass fillet with pad Thai-style noodles.
