Half-timbered pub with a sunny courtyard garden

Originally a row of cottages in the heart of Thame’s high street, this thatched pub remains a cosy warren of rooms with inglenook fireplaces and antique furniture. If you make it past the bar without being tempted by coffee or a pint of XT 3, you’ll find yourself in the restaurant overlooking the garden. The kitchen focuses on the best seasonal ingredients – a starter of warm, crispy camembert with fig relish might be followed by pork belly, roasted Autumn roots, apple purée, cider jus. There is a beer festival during National Cask Ale Week (September-October time).
