Overlooking, as the address suggests, the green in front of St Mary's church, this fine Georgian pub was where, in the late 1940s, Dylan Thomas enjoyed a drink or two when he was living nearby. Then, it was also Clinch's brewery; today it's a Peach Pub, serving Greene King and guest ales. The packed menu takes a while to study, so here are some advance suggestions: share a cold cuts or fish deli board, or single-handedly tackle classic fish stew; sea trout fillet with horseradish potato cake, caper and almond butter sauce; or roasted Tidenham duck breast, with carrot and potato rösti, wilted spinach and honey and thyme jus. Another thought is a steak from Aubrey Allen, the Queen's appointed butcher.
