A short walk from Oxford city centre, this attractive tile-hung pub stands in three acres of tranquil wooded grounds running down to Seacourt Stream, with a decking area, an outdoor tipi and a large garden. Providing plenty of shade, these grounds are ideal for barbecues and picnics, which can be ordered at the bar. Seasonal menus of modern British dishes include Enderby smoked haddock risotto with a poached free-range egg; superfood salads; roast and pan-fried sustainable fish; and steaks from butcher Aubrey ‘by Royal Appointment’ Allen. Soups, sandwiches, deli boards and a handful of mains are served all day. Also seasonal, are the interesting English and French cheese selections.
