On the stunning Northumberland coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Wellwood started life as a farmhouse and it’s the oldest building in Amble. Walkers and locals mingle in the bar over pints of cask ales, whilst diners have very different options, with a restaurant, dining room and carvery. As well as a bar menu and traditional pub favourites like bangers and mash and steak pie, there are dishes such as mussels in spiced tomato and basil sauce; tempura battered goats’ cheese fritters; a brace of Craster kippers with brown bread, new potatoes and garden peas; supreme of chicken; and locally sourced sirloin, fillet or rump steaks.
