Larger villages than tiny Lucker have lost their pub, but the Apple, which reopened in 2015, is in good hands. Beer drinkers in the wooden-floored bar enjoy Alnwick Brewery's Amber and Gold real ales, while diners in the tartan-carpeted restaurant relish slow roasted pressed ham hock with a duck egg; king scallops and haggis fritter; and a trio of Northumberland sausages with spring greens and creamy champ. Or, they might consider guinea fowl supreme in a fresh coriander marinade and heritage potatoes tossed in cumin and creamy tikka sauce; breaded monkfish scampi with beef dripping fries; or hand-made burgers. Some children might prefer toad-in-the-hole or battered fish and chips. There's plenty of room for eating and drinking outside too.
