Larger villages than tiny Lucker have lost their pub, but the Apple, which reopened in 2015, is in good hands. Beer drinkers in the wooden-floored bar enjoy Alnwick Brewery's Amber and Gold real ales, while diners in the tartan-carpeted restaurant relish chicken liver parfait; seared scallops, black pudding and crispy pork belly; and a trio of Northumberland sausages with creamy champ. Or, they might consider butter-baked halibut with pea and ham croquettes; breaded monkfish scampi with beef dripping fries; or a selection of burgers. Some children might prefer toad-in-the-hole or battered fish and chips. There's plenty of room for eating and drinking outside too.
