The friendly and informal Linden Tree stands within the 450-acres that surround Linden Hall, an impressive Georgian mansion that is a popular golf and country club. A sunny patio makes a relaxed setting for lunch in summer and the brasserie-style menu makes good use of Scottish produce. Dishes might include kipper pâté; spatchcock poussin, buttered baby potatoes, garden salad and garlic and lemon butter; or slow-cooked lamb shank, creamed potatoes and minted spring vegetable broth. Platters for sharing, sandwiches and grills are available too. Round off a long day with a nightcap in the golfers’ lounge.
