A welcoming village pub between the Howardian Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors near the bustling market town of Malton. Enjoy a pint of Marston’s EPA with the locals in the lively taproom, separated from the dining room – once the village post office – by a double-sided log-burner. Chef-proprietor Adam Myers has gained an enviable reputation in Ryedale for his chargrilled steaks, but other hearty options are slow-roasted pork belly, black pudding mash with crab apple jus; Cumberland sausages and mash; and wild mushroom and brie tart with slow-roasted tomato and rocket salad. Desserts are no less tempting – ginger sponge with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream.
