Right in the middle of a picture-perfect village, The Dawnay Arms dates back to Georgian times. It sits on the banks of the River Ouse, and its large rear garden runs down to moorings for those arriving by boat. The interior, all chunky beams and tables, hosts Black Sheep and guest ales, and the well-chosen wine list also deserves mention. Dishes are mostly British in style and replete with quality ingredients. A menu selection includes Shetland mussel, tiger prawn and calamari risotto; corn-fed chicken wrapped in pancetta with grilled baby leeks, and rib-eye steaks direct from the grill.
