The Harringtons have now owned this magnificent little pub at one end of a venerable arched bridge on the River Cover for nearly 22 years. The pub’s oldest part was probably built around 1670, to cater for the increasing trade on the drovers’ route from Coverdale. Watch out for the cunning door-latch, which befuddles many a first-time visitor. The ancient interior rewards with wrinkled beams, a vast hearth and open log fires, settles and wholesome fodder, including home-made pies, daily specials, and their famous ham and eggs. Relax in the riverside garden with your choice from eight ales on tap, four of which are rotating guests.
