Located halfway between York and Harrogate, this Grade II listed pub overlooks a village green complete with duck pond, grazing cattle and England's tallest maypole. Inside, the pub has a contemporary interior and a snug bar where local beers take pride of place. Real fires blaze and the walls are hung with paintings of the champion Victorian racehorse after which the pub is named. The kitchen has an uncompromising passion for local sourcing.
