The whitewashed stone Queens in secluded Littondale radiates its 17th-century character and charm below the limestone crags of the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy the views from the outside tables, perhaps while you contemplate climbing Pen-y-Ghent at the head of the dale. Inside are slate floors, beams, open fires, contemporary fittings and fabrics, and locally brewed real ales. Reflecting the seasons and the location, traditional food options include steak and ale pie with chips and peas; lamb burger with feta cheese and houmous; battered haddock and chips; and vegetable curry, rice and naan. Sticky ginger sponge will help replace the calories lost fell-walking.
