Just off the market square in the centre of Thirsk, the quirkily named Little 3 is run by Sean Kirkley, who has turned the place into a haven for real ale drinkers, and diners as well. Yorkshire breweries such as Timothy Taylor and Theakston dominate the hand pumps at the bar, and there is an extensive whisky selection. Away from the bustling bar, the upstairs brasserie serves seasonal dishes and themed specials boards. Look for crispy sweet chilli pork belly; or strips of blackened lamb flank to start; followed by sausages and mash; shepherd's pie; or steak and ale pie. There's a sandwich menu available most lunchtimes.
