This heavily beamed 17th-century coaching inn has bags of character, thanks to its Dutch gable ends, panelled walls, suit of armour and inglenook fireplaces. The covered terrace enables customers to enjoy one of the real ales or a glass of wine outside during the summer months. Everyone will find something that appeals on the extensive menus, which include plenty of fish options: pan-fried fillet of brill with roasted shellfish bisque sauce; chargilled swordfish loin with avocado and sun-dried tomato salad; and non-piscatorian dishes like teriyaki glazed pork loin ribs with coleslaw and corn on the cob; or slow-baked Swannington lamb shoulder kleftico style. There’s a light meals and snack menu too.
