On record as an alehouse back in the 18th century, this building has been used variously as an antiques shop, electrical store and fashion boutique, before Roger and Anthea Cawdron took over some 30 years ago. The pub is popular for its range of cask ales, excellent wines, and traditional English food using locally sourced produce. The varied menus offer ‘old favourites’ like home-made Scotch egg, pickle and salad; breaded wholetail scampi; salmon and dill fishcakes; and beef and ale stew alongside sandwiches, wedges and jacket potatoes. Sit outside on the jetty during the warmer months and enjoy the fabulous river views. There’s live music on Sundays.
