Modern local on a residential side street

At a glance

Bar menu
Dog friendly

Mark Reynolds bought The Stonhouse in 2015 and has taken it back to a free house after years of pub company ownership. Tucked discreetly away between Clapham's Old Town and its busy High Street, this impressively transformed corner local has an elegant bar where Sambrook’s Pumphouse Pale Ale vies for real ale drinkers' attention alongside Timothy Taylor Landlord. In the log-fire-warmed dining area, the brasserie-style menu is skewed towards modern British food, in particular steaks. The regularly changing menu could feature seared scallops, spiced lentils and crispy pancetta; or chargrilled rack of lamb, ratatouille, minted gravy.
