An ornate corner building offering rustic and uncomplicated food
At a glance
Open all year
The Orange comprises a number of light and airy adjoining rooms, which have a rustic Tuscan feel with their muted colours and potted orange trees on stripped wooden boards. Well-heeled locals quaff local ales and Italian wines while selecting from menus of modern European dishes. Wood-fired pizzas and oven roasts lead the way, but the carte is full of good things: chilli salt squid and spiced lime dressing; Jerusalem artichoke gnocchi, gorgonzola, purple sprouting broccoli and walnut granola; Cornish mussels with Guinness and smoked bacon broth. Welsh rarebit; baked spinach and feta pie, pomegranate, beluga lentils, candied beetroot and lemon thyme to list but a few. The pub is recognised for its approach to sustainability.
