Slap bang next to the Thames in Chiswick, The City Barge dates in part to the 14th century. With three open fires, old prints on the walls and photographs of the river and the famous Thames barges, it’s certainly full of character. There’s a private dining room overlooking the water, and loads of outside seating so you can enjoy a pint of Greene King IPA or the house bitter, Argey Bargey, in the sunshine. On the menu perhaps, Mediterranean charcuterie; miso-glazed duck leg; moules marinière; trio of lobster (tail thermidor, claw fritter and lobster and basil risotto); or braised rabbit and smoked ham hock pappardelle.
