Set in a picturesque village on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, this 300-year-old inn has always attracted an interesting mix of customers, from Grimsby’s seafarers to aviators from the county’s World War II airstrips. The bar is filled with maritime bric-à-brac and serves a grand choice of ales such as Black Sheep or Tom Wood's, and there’s also a beautiful garden. Seafood is a speciality, so tuck into seared scallops, chorizo, aïoli and sun blush tomatoes; and whole salt-crusted sea bass, chilli salsa, coriander rice and pak choi. Meat lovers are sure to enjoy dishes such as slow-roast lamb shank, creamed potato, sautéed cabbage and redcurrant reduction.
