There's a great view of nearby Lincoln Cathedral from the grounds of this waterside inn, which takes its name from the local dialect for lapwing. Set in four wooded acres beside the Roman-built Fossedyke Navigation, it serves real ales and home-made, locally sourced food. Expect dishes such as chicken breast stuffed with Stilton, wrapped in Parma ham with a bacon and chive mash and Stilton sauce; salmon fillet on a bed of green beans and spinach served with new potatoes and a lemon butter sauce; or twice baked cheese soufflé accompanied by a mushroom and spinach sauce. There is a beer garden and riverside patio where you can enjoy your meal, a refreshing ale or a glass of wine.
