Pantiles on the roof, white walls reflecting the sun, this family-run free house stands on the Viking Way long-distance path from the Humber to Rutland Water. Diners from all over the county are attracted by its many culinary temptations, among them crab cake with garlic mayonnaise; chicken liver parfait; home-cooked ham, egg and chips; steak and ale casserole; and Lincolnshire sausages, mash and vegetables. Anyone just after a glass of wine or pint of Wainfleet-brewed Batemans XXXB, Greene King IPA or a guest beer, will find plenty of armchairs to sink into.
