Old world charm combines with contemporary comforts in this refurbished 17th-century inn. Grab one of the comfortable armchairs by the open fire and enjoy a glass of Adnams ale or one of nine wines served by the glass as you agonise over menu choices. Pub classics of beer-battered haddock and chips, and steak and ale pudding may be one way to go, but then you could kick off with pan-fried crevettes with a garlic and chilli dipping oil followed by duck breast on sweet potato mash and asparagus. Make sure you leave a space for baked salted caramel cheesecake.
