This charming and picturesque free house was once three cottages owned by Canterbury Cathedral’s Dean and Chapter – hence the name. It sits on the North Downs Way overlooking apple orchards and oast houses. The à la carte includes chicken liver, brandy and herb pâté; and salmon fishcakes to start, followed by slow-roasted pork shoulder with caramelised apple sauce; wild mushroom, leek and spinach Stroganoff; or smoked haddock, poached egg and spinach. A barbecue is available for special events. Look out for the Spoofers' Bar, where you can enjoy a game of spoof; The Chapter Arms hosted the World Spoofing Championships a few years ago and was featured in Rory McGrath and Will Mellor’s TV programme Champions of the World.
