A former coaching inn close to Cowes town centre, ferry terminals and the marina, the Duke of York has been run by the Cass family for over 40 years. Even sopping wet yachtsmen are made welcome here. Fuggle-Dee-Dum from the island’s Goddards Brewery is one of several real ales, with the rest coming from the mainland. Quality home-cooked food with an emphasis on fresh seafood available in the bar and restaurant includes oven-baked sea bass, poached salmon in parsley sauce, and traditional battered cod. Possible alternatives are a variety of pie, bangers and mash, spaghetti bolognaise, and BBQ pork ribs, all home made, as well as daily blackboard specials, vegetarian choices and Sunday roasts.
