A warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed at this traditional village inn standing opposite Sarratt’s Norman church. Originally called the Cock Horse, this 17th-century pub is in the heart of the Chess Valley, an area favoured by walkers. It has head-cracking low beams, an inglenook fireplace and Hall & Woodhouse ales at the bar, while the ancient timbered barn houses the restaurant. Expect classic pub dishes such as cottage pie; pork and leek sausages; or liver and bacon casserole. Light bites and sandwiches are served in the bar or garden.
