Beautiful inn in historic town

Bar menu
Open all year

This higgledy-piggledy marvel is one of the stars of Ledbury’s extensive suite of amazing half-timbered buildings. Parts of it date back to 1550; the interior of the coaching inn oozes the character of great age, with fine beams and panelling in the refined dining room. Holes caused by musket shot fired during a Civil War skirmish are just another quirky talking point of the gabled building, where Wadworth’s beers slake the thirst of ramblers fresh from the challenging local countryside. Indulge in starters like Indonesian beef salad with cucumber, peanuts and lime dressing; or chicken liver pâte with crostini and tomato chutney; follow with mushroom, red pepper and chestnut Stroganoff; honey-glazed ham with eggs, tomatoes and chips; or pan-fried sea bass with a ratatouille of roast vegetables. If the weather permits, sit in the sun-trap courtyard garden.
