A traditional village free house with large gardens, The Crown Inn is popular with walkers and well supported by locals and visitors alike. Excellent food and drink are a priority here, with good ales as well as 24 local ciders and perries. Typical starter dishes on the concise menu could be crispy chilli beef with coriander salad; or twice baked Hereford Hop soufflé with creamy garlic mushrooms. Follow on with pheasant, leek and bacon pie, creamed mash and flower sprouts; beer battered Cornish whiting, chunky chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce; or hand-cut Ledbury côte de boeuf. There is an outside summertime bar in the garden on Saturday nights and an Early May Bank Holiday beer and cider festival.
