A family-run free house dating back to 1750, overlooking the peaceful, picturesque common. Ask at the bar for three circular walks which will take you to a Knights Templar church, Skenfrith Castle, and panoramic views. A good selection of real ales includes Butcombe and Wye Valley Brewery, with Westons cider also on tap. Traditional pub food is based on high quality local ingredients – many of the producers are regulars in the bar.
