Close to the church in Rotherwick – a picturesque village that has appeared in TV’s Midsomer Murders – parts of this smart, cream-washed inn date back to the 17th century. With log fires in winter, exposed brickwork and red-and-black tiled or wooden floors, the interior is pleasingly traditional. The south-facing garden is a draw in the summer as a place for a relaxed pint of Badger Fursty Ferret or a sensibly priced meal.
