It's hard to miss Greens' black-and-white timbered building, standing prominently on a corner of Wickham's medieval market square, the second largest in England. Its proprietors for 30 years, Frank and Carol Duckworth still use their original slogan – ‘Nothing is too much trouble’, a promise evident in the modern British seasonal menus and, more importantly, on the plate. Starters include pork croquette with chipotle ketchup and crackling; and salmon and hake fishcake; while main dish options are seared hake fillet with mussel and clam saffron chowder; or aubergine parmigiana with rocket and marinated artichokes. Bowmans, in nearby Droxford, supplies two of its prize-winning ales.
