Set in the ancient and beautiful Forest of Dean, where wild boar and deer roam free, The Dog & Muffler was once a cider house with its own orchard and cider press; the press can still be found in the large garden. Once a favourite watering hole of playwright Dennis Potter, visitors can now mingle with locals supping pints of Wye Valley ale or one of several ciders on offer. The seasonally changing menu offers the dishes such as duck with Morello cherry sauce; crackled belly of pork with fresh apple sauce; briam (an oven-roasted Mediterranean vegetable dish); beef lasagne and prize-winning pies.
