A pretty pub dating from 1525 with heavily carved beams to prove it, this Grade II listed building has two inglenook fireplaces and a large garden and courtyard. The traditional bar, which sells Shepherd Neame’s real ales, has no TV or games machines. Home-cooked pub classics are backed by mains like beef, mushroom and Stilton pie, and haddock in ale batter with chips, peas and tartare sauce. Three roasts, together with other options, are offered on Sundays.
