With a pink-washed exterior, this building is full of original charm and character, notably its impressive beams, open inglenook fireplaces and tiled and oak floors. No regular real ales in the two bars, but four different ones every week, and five ciders and perries, including Waltzing Wasp made from a 1907 press in nearby Sible Hedingham. Typically on the menu are toasted white crab and gruyère cheese baguette; Gloucester Old Spots sausage toad-in-the-hole and mash; oven-baked cod, roasted peppers, leeks and carrots; and chicken breast burger. Dogs are welcome in the bar and private walled garden.
