An ideal spot for South Downs walkers

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

This traditional country pub is set back off the A27 in a pretty village close to the famous chalk figure of the Long Man of Wilmington. A family-owned Victorian free house, the pub is ideally situated for walkers exploring the South Downs Way. Furnished with pine tables and pews, the bar is decorated with Beryl Cook prints. Local ales from The Long Man brewery in nearby Litlington accompany a blackboard menu of traditional classics and daily specials. Typical choices include flaked smoked haddock, salmon and hake fishcakes; African-style sweet potato, spinach, courgette and peanut stew; and Selmeston game pie with new potatoes and seasonal veg.
