In the pretty village of Goodmanham on the Wolds Way National Trail, this timeless red-brick inn is popular with walkers and cyclists refuelling on ales brewed by the pub’s own All Hallows Brewery. Other Yorkshire breweries including Theakston and Black Dog also make regular appearances and the pub hosts an Early May Bank Holiday beer festival. Real fires, comfortable armchairs and low beams add to the charm of this friendly pub, which specialises in home-cooked dishes like steak and ale pie; spit roasts on Sundays and pheasant stews cooked over the fire in a Victorian cast iron pot.
