On the A350, between Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum is The Fontmell, a stylish and comfortable country pub, complete with a stream flowing between the bar and the dining room. Most visitors and guests cannot resist chef Tom Shaw’s frequently changing menus which feature flavour-packed meals such as roasted butternut squash with goats curd, honey and pickled golden raisins; followed by pan-fried hake with Galician stew, and River Fowey mussels; and finishing with black cherry soufflé, dark chocolate, griottine cherry and clotted cream. From Monday to Thursday a classics menu is available alongside the à la carte.
