Run for the past century by the Grose family, who also own the neighbouring Thurlestone Hotel, this 16th-century inn’s interior is smart with traditional touches including timbers salvaged from wrecked Spanish Armada warships. The menu offers freshly prepared sandwiches and salads; signature dishes such as fish pie and venison Bourguignon and mash; pub classics including burgers and glazed ham, fried duck eggs and chips; and daily blackboard specials including fish from Brixham and Plymouth markets. Dartmoor Jail Ale and Thurlestone Rocks are among the ales on tap. Children and dogs are welcome.
