Renowned time-warp in pretty village

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

Tucked away in the Blackdown Hills, but only five miles from Honiton, this ancient building has a delightfully quirky interior with original beams, sisal flooring and wood-burning stove. Otter Amber and Branscombe Vale Branoc are among the five Devon ales dispensed from the convivial bar, alongside local Tricky cider and an extensive wine list. On the menu featuring daily-changing specials, a starter of pork terrine with caramelised red onion and toast might be followed by pan-fried duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes, vegetables and either a plum or honey and rosemary sauce.
