Historically the last coaching inn before reaching Cornwall, The Cornish Arms is run by husband and wife team John and Emma Hooker. Whether inside the modern but cosy interior or out in the garden, guests will find a wide-ranging and unpretentious menu of pub favourites, from roast loin of venison, pork belly, parsnip and spiced prune; to blue cheese and walnut tart, soft poached egg and new potatoes. Round things off with buttermilk pannacotta or rhubarb trifle. The bar is well stocked with ales including St Austell’s Trelawny and ciders such as Cornish Rattler, and the real ale and cider festival in August is a must-attend occasion for visitors.
