Some customers at the Church House Inn encounter the wandering spirit of a monk; fortunately for owners, the Edwards family, he seems to be friendly. Tracing its history as far back as 1028, this venerable inn burgeons with brasses, bare beams, large fireplaces and other historic features. In the character dining room, dinner might start with smoked ham hock terrine, piccalilli and sourdough. It might continue with duck breast, lentils, pancetta and baby corn. There is a large garden and patio where you can enjoy a pint of Dartmoor Ale.
