This old farmhouse, which became an inn in 1829, looks south across Bradford Dale and its picturesque stretches of tree-hung, crystal-clear water. Warm and friendly, the bar offers two guest real ales and a good selection of wines by the glass. Home-made, locally-sourced dishes include Derbyshire mushrooms with grilled blue cheese; warm black pudding and bacon salad; fish pie with North Atlantic prawns; Derbyshire homity pie filled with leek and apple; and red bean, tomato and brazil nut flan. The area abounds with walks and places to visit, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall.
